Terms and Conditions
Version 1.1 · Last updated 7 October 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern the use of the finstory service by the company that subscribes to it ("Customer", "you") and by the people it gives access. They are a binding agreement between Customer and Finstory, Inc. ("finstory", "we", "us"). Customer accepts them by subscribing, for example through our checkout, by signing an order that refers to them, or by using the service. If you accept them for a company, you confirm that you may bind that company. If Customer and finstory have signed a separate agreement, that agreement prevails where it differs from these Terms.
1. The service
finstory is software for finance teams. It connects to your ERP, your accounting system (such as QuickBooks Online) or spreadsheets, keeps your actuals, budgets and forecasts in one governed model, and turns them into reports and board stories. The service includes the finstory app at app.finstory.ai, the finstory connector for Claude, the finstory plugin for Claude, onboarding and support. We keep improving finstory, so features may change over time.
2. Accounts and access
Customer's administrators invite users and give each one a role, which sets what they can see and change. Customer is responsible for its users, for keeping their logins secure and for everything done with them. Tell us at support@finstory.org straight away if you suspect unauthorized access.
3. Use of the service
You agree to:
- provide accurate company and contact information;
- load only data you are authorized to share;
- use the service for your company's own business purposes.
You agree not to:
- use the service in breach of any law or of anyone's rights;
- access, or try to access, other customers' data or accounts, or get around the service's security, except for good-faith security research that follows our rules for reporting a vulnerability;
- test the service with denial-of-service tools, automated scanners or load testing without our written consent;
- reverse engineer the service, except where the law gives you that right despite this restriction;
- resell or white-label the service without a separate agreement with us.
4. Your data
Customer owns the data it loads into finstory and everything derived from it, including reports and stories. finstory processes that data to provide the service and does not use it for marketing, demos or any purpose outside Customer's account. Our Privacy Policy describes how we handle personal data within that content.
5. finstory in Claude
The finstory connector and plugin let Claude read and write within your finstory workspace, limited to what your role allows. Claude does not load or delete financial data, does not move money, and does not delete a report or a story on its own; deletions go to a holding group for a person to confirm. Your Claude plan and your agreement with Anthropic govern your use of Claude itself.
6. Fees and payment
Fees are set out at checkout or in your order and are billed monthly or annually in advance. Fees are exclusive of taxes, which Customer is responsible for. Late payments may lead to suspension of the service after notice. Monthly plans can be cancelled at any time and run to the end of the month already paid for. Annual plans run for the full year and can be cancelled before they renew. Payments already made are not refunded.
7. Intellectual property
finstory and its licensors own the service, including its software, design and documentation. Nothing in these Terms transfers that ownership to Customer. Customer grants finstory the limited right to host and process Customer's data solely to provide the service.
8. Confidentiality
Each party will protect the other's confidential information with the same care it uses for its own, and at least reasonable care, and will use it only to perform under these Terms. This does not apply to information that is public, independently developed, or required to be disclosed by law.
9. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
The service is provided "as is", without warranties beyond those stated in these Terms. finstory drafts reports and stories from the data it is given; Customer remains responsible for reviewing and approving what it publishes to its board, investors or lenders. To the extent permitted by law, neither party is liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, and each party's total liability under these Terms is capped at the fees Customer paid in the 12 months before the claim arose.
10. Termination
Either party may terminate for the other's uncured material breach with 30 days' written notice. On termination, Customer's access ends and we handle its data as described in our Privacy Policy and our Security page.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, USA, without regard to its conflict of laws rules, and disputes will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Georgia, unless Customer's order says otherwise.
